Discovery of Mayan Calendar Confirms 2012 'End Date'

US wants to sway vote results in Egypt


CAIRO : Egypt's liberal political parties say the U.S. is trying to sway results of the country's first post-Hosni Mubarak presidential elections and they want Washington to stop.

The strongly worded statement by the bloc of liberal parties in parliament comes as tensions are high over a disputed runoff vote between the Brotherhood's candidate and a Mubarak-era politician. Both campaigns have claimed victory and the electoral commission has postponed the release of official results.

Supreme Court Disqualifies elected Pakistani Prime Minister


Islamabad : Pakistani Supreme court has disqualified Pakistani Prime minister, who restored the same supreme court on his first order, rejecting the ruling of speaker of parliament Fahmida Mirza which said that Syed Yousaf Gilani can not be disqualified.

Supreme Court after briefly hearing the case gave a brief decision to disqualify the sitting prime minister of Pakistan Peoples Party.

Sri Lanka reverses Pakistani victory into defeat


Colombo : Sri Lanka beats Pakistan by 45 runs in 4th one day international match here by leading the series 2-1. Earlier Sri Lank won the toss and choose to bat first, setting the target of  243, Sangakara scored 97 runs. 

In reply Pakistan went all well as they were 166/2 when Misbahul Haq was out. Pakistani defenses were destroyed with rest all batsman knocked out on ducks except Saeed Ajmal who managed 12 runs. Opener Azhar Ali remained not out on 81, Seven Pakistani players were out on zero.

Nuclear Strike within 8 seconds theory


Islamabad : Alastair Campbell, a key aide of Tony Blair, has claimed that Pakistani generals has warned him that Pakistan could launch a nuclear strike on India within eight seconds. 

He writes that, “At dinner I was between two five-star generals who spent most of the time listing atrocities for which they held the Indians responsible, killing their own people and trying to blame freedom fighters. They were pretty convinced that one day there would be a nuclear war because India, despite its vast population and despite being seven times bigger, was unstable and determined to take them out.

Highly politically charged rulings dealt a heavy blow to the fundamentalist Muslim Brotherhood, which called the decisions a “full-fledged coup”.

Chief Executive of Pakistan Hortifresh Processing Private Limited Babar Khan Durrani Speaking at the launch ceremony on Saturday said that the hot water treatment plant will enable Pakistan to export its mangoes to new markets of South Korea, China, Hong Kong, Mauritius, Iran, Lebanon and Jordon while Australia is expected to soon approve imports as they recently inspected the facility.

US Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta has said that US has reached its limits with Pakistan, he repeated criticism of Pakistan's inaction, which he appeared to signal a somewhat tougher stance and a suggestion that the U.S. is becoming even more willing and quick to strike terrorist targets inside Pakistan. 

A senior U.S. official acknowledged Thursday that the recent increase in drone strikes on insurgents in Pakistan is due in part to frustration with Islamabad. The official spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive operations.

Nato gets alternate supply route through Central Asia


BRUSSELS: Nato has announced that it has concluded an agreements with Central Asian nations allowing it to evacuate vehicles and other military equipment from Afghanistan and completely bypass Pakistan, which once provided the main supply route for coalition forces. 

The announcement came from the Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, who said that Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan had agreed to allow the reverse transport of alliance equipment.

Pakistan Test Fires Air-Launched Cruise Missile, Hatf VIII (Ra'ad)


Karachi: Pakistan has test fired its air-launched cruise missile (ALCM), the Hatf VIII (Ra’ad) which is capable of delivering both the nuclear and conventional high-explosive warheads. 

The maximum effective operational range is estimated at 220 miles. The Ra’ad can be used for precision strikes on enemy strategic facilities such as radars, SAM batteries, and warships, can carry a nuclear warhead of up to 300 kiloton.
