MAKKAH: After a summit of Muslim leaders in holy city of Makkah the Organization of Islamic Cooperation has suspended Syria’s, Syria was already suspended from the Arab League last year.

The organization also decided to put up the issue of Myanmar’s Muslim Rohingyas to the United Nations which are displaced by deadly sectarian violence.

The Myanmar government’s handling of minority Muslims was described as a “crime against humanity”.

The meeting was presided by Saudi King Abdullah and attendents included Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad whose country has openly criticized the push to suspend Syria.

The Secretary-General of OIC Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu told a news conference the decision sent “a strong message from the Muslim world to the Syrian regime.”
